Real Madrid named squad to face Galatasary, Kaka, Ronaldo in, Casillas not

MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Jose Mourinho has named his 19 member Real Madrid squad for Tuesday night’s Champions League first leg quarter-final clash against Galatasary at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Goalkeeper Iker Casillas returned to regular training, but was not considered for the game, with Diego Lopez expected to continue his duty between the post.

Playmaker Kaka, midfielders Angel Di Maria, Mesut Ozil, Luka Modric and Xabi Alonso are all in the squad, along with strikers Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain.

Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Raphael Varane are all in the team as well, with the latter admitting to being delighted with the rapid progress in his early career.

“This is a very important stage in my career and is great experience. It is a huge bonus for me to be playing and let us hope I can continue to advance,” Varane said ahead of the clash.

“Last year I was working on a day-by-day basis and never imagined such a quick advance into the first team, but I will continue working hard in order to continue to get better.”

THE REAL MADRID LINE-UP
Goalkeepers: Diego López, Adán and Jesús.
Defenders: Ramos, Arbeloa, Varane, Coentrão, Marcelo and Pepe.
Midfielders: Alonso, Khedira, Özil, Essien, Modric, Kaká and Di María.
Strikers: Higuaín, Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema.
