MADRID, Spain (Sporting Alert) — Iker Casillas could start for Real Madrid in Saturday’s Spanish La Liga clash with Valladolid in the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish goalkeeper has failed to regain his spot from Diego Lopez since returning from injury, but with Barcelona almost certain to win the league title and the Champions League now a distant memory, manager Jose Mourinho could recall the club captain to his starting lineup.
Meanwhile, Mourinho has called up his 20-man squad for the game and he promises to play a strong team as Real Madrid look to close out the season undefeated.
“We want to finish with the maximum number of points and remain unbeaten at home,” said Mourinho, who was very disappointed to see his team being knocked out of the Champions League at the semi-final stages.
“We will be up against a team that is in an ideal situation, as they can come here to the Bernabéu without being under any pressure at all.
“They’re a team that play well, I rate their manager highly and this could be a difficult match.”
He added on www.realmadrid.com: “Valladolid are a team that play well, I rate their manager highly and this could be a difficult match.”
