According to recent reports, Arsenal are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix on loan in the January transfer window. The Gunners are reportedly looking to add attacking reinforcements and have identified Felix as a potential option.
However, Atletico are reportedly demanding a loan fee of £13m, plus additional fees, bringing the total cost of the deal to around £16m for the remainder of the season, per report in the Daily Mail,
This price is deemed too high by Arsenal, and talks are ongoing between the club, Felix’s agent Jorge Mendes, and Atletico to try and lower the fee.
In addition to Felix, Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk.
The Sun’s Andrew Dillon writes that Mudryk is split over whether to join Arsenal or Chelsea, leading to a “fierce two-way battle” between the Premier League giants. It is also understood that if Mudryk were to leave Shakhtar, he “prefers Emirates over Chelsea.”
Manchester United have also been linked with Felix, but it is still being determined if they will make a move for the Portuguese forward.
Felix has struggled to hold down a regular starting place in Atletico’s side this season and has only scored four goals in 13 games in La Liga.
However, he has a contract with the Spanish club until 2026.
