BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — Barcelona landed the signature of Neymar from Santos FC, reports in Spain are saying on Saturday.
Neymar, who has been strongly linked with several top European clubs in the last couple of transfer windows, is believed to have made his mind up about where he wants to expand his career with Santos FC confirming this week that he would be sold.
“In the face of the offers and the player’s contract, the management committee of the club decided to sell the player,” Santos said in a statement on their website at www.santosfc.com.br.
“At a meeting with the representatives of Santos FC’s management committee, the forward Neymar Jr was informed about the proposals received by the club and will analyse them in the coming days before making a definitive decision.”
It is believed that Real Madrid and Barcelona were the front runners to capture Neymar.
“I’m happy to know that these two clubs are interested in me. I’m very proud, it’s one of the happiest moments of my life,” Neymar was quoted as saying.
“I’ll look at both offers very carefully. I’ll go home and make a decision along with my family.
“I’m not in a hurry. The decision may come in five minutes, in half an hour or in three days.”
Now, reports claimed that Barcelona have acquired the Brazilian striker for a reported €25 million, and he will now potentially link up with World Player of the Year, Lionel Messi.
