(Sporting Alert) — Manchester United have identified two targets to boost up the squad and reports claimed that the Premier League leaders have their eyes on Croatian duo Sime Vrsaljko and Alen Halilovic.
In fact, according to the Daily Mail, United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is plotting a January move for the pair as he seeks to strengthen his squad.
It is believed that Manchester United chief executive David Gill travelled to Croatia on Tuesday to discuss the possibilities of signing Dinamo Zagreb’s £15million-rated teenage sensation Halilovic, a player who is also high on the Manchester City top target list.
Halilovic has been rated highly by many top scouts in Europe and United, according to media reports, were tipped off by an approached from local rivals Manchester City.
Halilovic is said to be on the same developmental level as Real Madrid’s Luka Modric, a player Ferguson was heavily linked with before the midfielder decided to join the Spanish side after leaving Tottenham in the summer.
The Daily Mail also reports that Gill also enquired about 20-year-old right back Vrsaljko, currently one of the most talked about young players at his position.
And it doesn’t stop there, as another Dinamo Dinamo midfielder Mateo Kovacic, also drew the attention of Gill.
Many have mocked this current squad to be the worst Manchester United team, with the midfield and defensive area needing major shake-ups.
Manchester United face Manchester City in the derby on Sunday.
