NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — Phil Jackson met with the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday to iron out some of things he need if he’s to return as head coach of the club and it is believe Scottie Pippen was on that list.
This is the report from the New York Daily News.
Jackson has been the major talking point since Friday about the possibilities of making a return to coaching after Mike Brown was fired by the Lakers, and the club made it well known that it is the veteran’s job to decline.
The experienced coach, it is believe has shown interest in returning for his third stint, but apparently wants Pippen, one of his former Chicago Bulls stars, on his staff.
Pippen, a Hall of Fame Chicago Bulls forward, is a six-time NBA champion and a vital member of the Jackson, Michael Jordan and Pippen trio that dominated the NBA in the 1990s.
Reports are also saying that the Lakers are trying to find a way to add Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw to the coaching staff – reuniting him with his old club and Jackson.
