(Sporting Alert, Box Score) — The following are the results and box scores from Week 3 of the new NFL season, which took place around the country on Sunday.
New England Patriots (3-0) remained undefeated after picking up it’s third successive win of the new season, following a dominant 23-3 result over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It was the team’s first 3-0 start to a campaign in six seasons.
“I feel good. 3-0. You can’t ask for anything better,” said Patriots defensive tackle Vince Wilfork after the win.
“We know our offense, sooner or later, they’re going to start clicking.”
Defeat for the Buccaneers (0-3), who wasted several opportunities to score in the first half, saw them starting the season without a win in their opening three games.
The New Orleans Saints (3-0) also rushed to three consecutive wins to start the 2013 season after beating the Arizona Cardinals (1-2) by a score of 31-7 at Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Drew Brees threw three touchdown passes and finished the game with 29 of 46 completed pass with 342 yards.
The Miami Dolphins (3-0) also picked up their third successive win of the season after rallying past the Atlanta Falcons (1-2) 27-23, when Ryan Tannehill found rookie Dion Sims, who made a one-handed catch to score from a 1-yard pass with 38 seconds left.
Elsewhere, the Seattle Seahawks (3-0) dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars (0-3) 45-17 to land win number three-in-three this season, while the Chicago Bears (3-0) beat the struggling Pittsburgh Steelers (0-3) at Heinz Field, 40-23.
It was another struggling week for the Washington Redskins, who were beaten 27-20 by the Detroit Lions at FedEx Field, while the New York Giants, also winless this season, failed to score in a disappointing 38-0 setback against the Carolina Panthers, who had Cam Newton throwing for three touchdowns and passed for 223 yards on 15 of 27 pass completion.
