RESULTS: NCAA Top 25 Men’s Basketball Scores; Box Scores

CHICAGO (Sporting Alert) — The following are the NCAA top 25 basketball scores and respective box scores from the games that took place on Saturday, Dec. 20.

There were victories on the day for No. 1 Kentucky, No. 4 Louisville and No. 24 North Carolina, but No. 23 Butler and No. 25 Michigan State were both beaten.

Top ranked Wildcats improved to 12-0 with another dominating double digit victory, following their 83-44 win against UCLA at United Center.

Kentucky scored the opening 24 points of the contest and then took a 41-7 lead at halftime en route to another one-sided victory, as UCLA fell to its lowest point total in a half.

Devin Booker led the way for the victors with 19 points off the bench, while Aaron Harrison added 15.

“People can watch these guys in 20 minutes and know how really good they are,” Wildcats coach John Calipari said.

“They don’t need 40 minutes, and these kids are great.

“We’re a really good team with a bunch of guys, 10 guys, that all could score double figures.”

Another team sealing a victory on Saturday at United Center was the 24th ranked North Carolina, who stopped No. 12 Ohio State, 82-74.

Brice Johnson finished with 18 points and nine rebounds to lead the Tar Heels and Marcus Paige added 16 points, despite shooting just 4-for-12 from the field.

Marc Loving had 19 points and Sam Thompson ended with 17 in the defeat for the Buckeyes (9-2), who are 0-2 against ranked teams this season.

Fourth-ranked Louisville scored 76-67 victory over Western Kentucky.

Terry Rozier delivered a career-high 32 points and added five rebounds and three steals to guide the Cardinals, who lost star forward Montrezl Harrell after he was ejected for a flagrant 2 foul for throwing a punch at an opponent during a tangle.

Harrell scored 14 points and pulled down six rebounds before his dismissal.

“We knew it was going to be tough playing without Trez,” Rozier said. “It was big losing him, so we all had to step up.

“I wasn’t the only one making shots. We all did something.”

Elsewhere, No. 7 Villanova defeated Syracuse, 82-77, No. 8 Gonzaga scored a 63-50 win over Cal Poly, No. 9 Texas were 78-68 winners over Long Beach State and 10th-ranked Kansas hammered Lafayette, 96-69.

There were defeats on the day though for No. 23 Butler, which suffered a an 82-73 negative result against Indiana and No. 25 Michigan State, who were stunning upset in overtime by Texas Southern, 71-64.
