LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Tottenham’s run of 12 games unbeaten in the Barclays Premier League ended at Anfield on Sunday after they were beaten by Liverpool.
Jan Vertonghen was the star for Tottenham with a brace, but his side came up short after Steven Gerrard slotted home an 82nd minute penalty.
Luis Suarez (21) and Stewart Downing (66) were the other scorers for Liverpool in the win.
Also in the Premier League on Sunday, Papiss Demba Cisse scored two late goals for Newcastle to beat Stoke City 2-1.
On Saturday, Andros Townsend and Jermaine Jenas scored stunning goals for QPR to beat Sunderland 3-1 and move closer to saving their Premier League future.
