ACC top sides Miami (FL), Duke and North Carolina, alongside San Diego State, Kansas and Indiana were all among the winners in the second round on Friday.
At the same time there were several upsets on the day with Ole Miss upsetting Wisconsin 57-46, La Salle stopping Kansas State 63-61 and Florida Gulf Coast stunning Georgetown 78-68.
Ohio State bruised past Iona 95-70, Florida stop Northwestern State 79-47, while title contenders Duke, who were beaten at this stage last year, had a 73-61 victory over Albany.
