Rodgers goes defensive, starts five defenders against Chelsea: Team News

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has decided to play it safe and start with a five man defensive line for the Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The fixture has called for experienced and Rodgers has decided to start veteran Jamie Carragher in his five-man defence today.

England U21 defender Andre Wisdom and Glen Johnson are both part of the back line, while captain Steven Gerrard leads the midfield and Luis Suarez heads the attack.

Manchester United and Manchester City both winning on Saturday and early Sunday morning, Chelsea know they must get something from this fixture to keep the pressure on.

John Terry returns to the starting line-up and he plays in the defence alongside Branislav Ivanovic. Ryan Bertrand starts again for the injured Ashely Cole, while the Eden Hazard11 Oscar and Juan Mata combination start again.

Chelsea: Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Terry, Bertrand, Ramires, Mikel Obi1, Hazard, Oscar, Mata, Torres.
Subs: Turnbull,  Ferreira,  Cahill, Romeu,  Marin, Moses, Sturridge.

Liverpool: Jones, Johnson, Enrique, Agger, Wisdom, Carragher, Sahin, Gerrard, Allen, Sterling, Suarez.
Subs: Gulacsi, Cole, Assaidi, Henderson, Coates, Downing, Suso.
