MADRID (Sporting Alert) — Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema all start for Real Madrid in their final La Liga fixture of the season against Espanyol at Santiago Bernabeu.
It had been reported that Ronaldo, who is being bothered by an injury, would have been rested and be saved for next week’s Champions League final, but the Portugal forward says he wants to play.
Ronaldo will be joined in the attack by Bale and Benzema, as manager Carlo Ancelotti stuck to his word and named a strong starting lineup, even though Real Madrid cannot win the league title this season.
The game also see the return of German midfielder Sami Khedira, who starts in the middle alongside Asier Illarramendi.
Talented young French defender Raphael Varane partners Sergio Ramos at centerback in the absence of Pepe, while Marcelo also starts in the back line.
