Real Madrid are sitting third in the La Liga standings with 83 points, five less than leaders Atletico Madrid, but with a game in hand.

Bale misses the clash because of a knock manager Carlo Ancelotti had revealed.

“Bale has taken a knock, and they are not available,” Ancelotti said.

However, Ronaldo, despite limited participation in training on Tuesday, starts upfront alongside Karim Benzema.

“Cristiano is fine,” Ancelotti said. “He was a bit tired, so only did part of the session, but he is available and will play.”

Meanwhile, Luka Modric also starts and plays in midfield with Xabi Alonso, Isco and Angel di Maria.
