Sanchez on the bench: Barcelona v Real Madrid

BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — Alexis Sanchez was named on the bench for Barcelona, while Xavi featured in a record 32nd time in tonight’s Clasico clash against leaders Real Madrid at Camp Nou.

Sanchez had been a doubt for the contest after picking up an injury in the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Chelsea in midweek, but had recovered enough to make the bench.

Meanwhile, Cristian Tello was handed a starting place in Pep Guardiola starting side to play alongside Lionel Messi and Andrés Iniesta, while Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique were surpringly amongst the subs.

For Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema start, along with Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria. Fabio Coentrao starts in the backline for Jose Mourinho’s side.
