No. 1 seed in the MIDWEST and top overall seed Louisville (30-5) will look to keep its streak alive when they take on No. 8 Colorado State (26-8) at the Rupp Arena in Lexington.

The Cardinals have won its last 11 games, including a comfortable 79-48 victory over North Carolina A&T on Thursday night and will seek to win its 12th straight.

Louisville are the favored team to move into the next round, but head coach Rick Pitino remains cautious.

“They have all the ingredients to be a great basketball team, and they are,” Pitino said of Colorado State.

“I always look at talent and experience coming together and Colorado State has both.

“Five seniors, No. 1 rebounding margin team in the country, I know Larry is a terrific coach,” he added.

Another No. 1 seed, Gonzaga (32-2), after surviving for a 64-58 win over the Southern University Jaguars in the second round, will take on #9 Wichita State (27-8).

The contest could be more challenging that it seems, with several pundits backing Wichita State to upset the Bulldogs in their third round game.

In fact, college basketball expert Dick Vitale believes Gonzaga will lose to the Shockers.

“It’s over for them,” Vitale said on ESPN.

Meanwhile, a very spirited No. 5 Virginia Commonwealth (VCU) (27-8) team is expected to give (4) Michigan all that they can handle and have even emerged as the favourites to move past the Wolverines (27-7) on Saturday.

Oregon (27-8), perhaps the best No. 12 team in the nation, setup an interesting battle with (4) Saint Louis (28-6), while (12) California take on (4) Syracuse and the surprising (14) Harvard look for another upset over (6) Arizona.
