SCORES-NIT Tournament Results on Mar. 20

WACO, TX (Sporting Alert) — The following are the results from the NIT Tournament Games that were played on Wednesday night (March 20).

Amongst the winners were the No. 2 Baylor Bears (19-14), which destroyed the No. 7 Long Beach State 49ers (19-14) 112-66 at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas.

“We played like a weight was off our shoulder,” said Baylor coach Scott Drew. “The last two games at home, we played our best games of the season. We hope that continues.”

Brady Heslip led Baylor with 26 points, while six other players hit double digits in scoring in the victory for the Bears.

“I love it when teams play zone,” said Heslip, who shot 8-for-11 from the three point range.

“Guys made a couple of extra passes early, found me when I was open.”

Cory Jefferson finished with 15 points and eight rebounds, Taurean Prince added 14 points and seven boards and Isaiah Austin added 13 and six.

Kris Gulley was the best contributor for Long Beach State with 13 points off the bench.

In other results, (3) Iowa eased past Indiana State 68-52, (2) Massachusetts suffered a 71-58 defeat at the hands of (7) Stony Brook, (1) Southern Miss 78, beat (8) Charleston Southern 71, while (2) Tennessee were taken down 75-67 by (7) Mercer.
