Shakhtar star Fernandinho: Racist should be severely punished

SHAKHTAR (Sporting Alert) — Chelsea leading defender and captain John Terry is set for a tough time at Donbass Arena when the Premier League side takes on Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Terry is set to make his first appearance for Chelsea since accepting a £220,000 fine and four-match ban for racism and reports here suggested that the experienced central defender will be mocked and booed with every touch of the ball.

On the same side of this, Shakhtar star and vice-captain Fernandinho has also warned that “I would go wild” if someone should ever use racist language in his presence.

“If someone was ever racist towards me, I would go wild,” Fernandinho was quoted as saying.

“But I’m happy to say I’ve never suffered such an act in my time playing in Brazil or Ukraine.”

Fernandinho also believes that culprits “should be very severely punished.”

He said: “In my opinion, if someone commits such a crime, it should be very severely punished.

“Racism in football is one of the most unpleasant things in our time.”

Chelsea squad: Cech, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Luiz, Cole, Bertrand, Mikel, Romeu, Lampard, Ramires, Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Moses, Sturridge, Torres, Turnbull.
