De Gea starts on the bench alongside Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina and Manchester City playmaker David Silva.

Starting in goal is Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas and his backline will include Raul Albiol and Sergio Ramos.

The midfield will be without the Barcelona starts, Sergio Busquets, Xavi and Andrés Iniesta, but with Xabi Alonso, Jesus Navas and Santiago Cazorla involved – the tempo is still expected to remain high.

Roberto Soldado and Alvaro Negredo get the chance to prove themselves again, with Fernando Torres rested and David Villa out for the rest of the season.

Adem Ljajic and Zoran Tosic are in the starting team for Serbia, which failed to qualify for the EURO.
