Liverpool forward Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani are both members of the Uruguay starting XI.

Barcelona defender Carlos Puyol will make his 100th appearance for the national side, as he starts alongside Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos at center-back in a defensive line that also includes Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta, who will make his debut and Jordi Alba.

“I’m delighted that he’s going to play his 100th game, he’s always been an example to everyone both on and off the pitch,” said Del Bosque of Puyol.

Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla, Andres Iniesta and Sergio Busquets make up the midfield.

Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque is without Iker Casillas so Victor Valdes starts in goal.

Casillas, Xavi and Xabi Alonso are all injured, while Fernando Torres and Michu were not called up.

Barcelona’s David Villa and Manchester City’s David Silva both start on the bench along with goalkeeper Pepe Reina and defenders Gerard Piqué and Álvaro Arbeloa.

Meanwhile, striker Diego Forlán is amongst the substitutes tonight for Uruguay, so too is defender Sebastián Coates.

Spain, even without several key players, will still start favourites to win tonight.
