Switzerland 5 stunned Germany 3: (w) video highlights

(Sporting Alert) — Eren Derdiyok scored a hat-trick and Switzerland stunned Germany 5-3 in a friendly football international played at St. Jakob Park on Saturday.

Derdiyok gave Switzerland a 2-0 lead inside the first 25-minutes when he hit a low volley home in the 21st minute, prior to doubling his tally with a superb header two minute later.

Mats Hummels head home a Mario Gotze free-kick to cut the score to 2-1 at half-time, but Germany were unable to slow down the Swiss after the interval.

They came out pushing and Derdiyok completed his hat-trick and grabbed his team’s third five minutes into the second half, but Andre Schurrle pulled another goal back for the Germans to make it 3-2 in the 64th minute.

Three minute later Stephan Lichtsteiner made it 4-2, before Marco Reus hit one into the ground and past the keeper for Germany’s third.

The comeback looked on once again, but just as they did every time Joachim Löw’s team found a goal, Switzerland rallied to score another and their fifth through Admir Mehmedi in the 77th minute for the thrilling victory.

Germany was still without several of their top players from Bayern Munich who were rested.
