By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: May 5, 2017 8:24 am Leave a Comment

DOHA, Qatar — Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson and South Africa’s Caster Semenya are among sixteen reigning World and Olympic champions scheduled to kick off the 2017 IAAF Diamond League series in Doha on Friday, April 5.

Follow live results and updates from Doha | All 14 meets will be televised live on TV in the US on NBC, NBCSN or Universal HD.

Thompson v Schippers Over 200m

In one of the highlighted matchups in the Qatar capital, Thompson, who won the women’s 100m and 200m sprint double at Rio 2016 last summer, will go head-to-head with Dutch star and world champion Dafne Schippers in the women’s 200m.

Both sprinters have already shown solid early season form, with Schippers already posting a time of 22.29 seconds in the half-lap event and 10.95 over the 100m.

Thompson, meanwhile, has clocked a slightly wind-aided 10.75 in the 100m a few weeks ago, while the Jamaican also impressed when anchoring her nation to victory at the recently concluded Penn Relays.

Veronica Campbell-Brown, the 2004 and 2008 Olympic champion over 200m, as well as Marie-Josee Ta Lou of Ivory Coast, the fourth place finisher in Rio in the 100m and 200m finals, will also lineup in the event.

Dibaba To Test Semenya In 800m

In the meantime, Semenya, the 2012 and 2016 Olympic 800m champion, will battle with world 1500m record holder Genzebe Dibaba of Ethiopia, who will be making her debut in the two-lap event.

Semenya, without giving anything away, is excited about running her own race against Dibaba.

“I run races in my style, and not how others will run theirs,” she said at the press conference.

“Obviously she doesn’t know my race plan and I don’t know hers. She is a great runner and I’m really excited about it.”

Kenyan Olympic bronze medallist Margaret Nyambui and Olympic finallist Joanna Jozwik of Poland, who led the world this year during the world indoor season with a time of 1:59.29, are also expected to challenge for the win.

The Changing Of The Guards

The men’s 100m will feature some of the season campaigners against some of the top upcoming stars.

Pan Am Games
Pan Am Games: Andre De Grasse

Triple Olympic medallist Andre de Grasse of Canada and South African Akani Simbine, who has already posted five sub-10 seconds this season, will battle against 2004 Olympic champion Justin Gatlin of the US and Jamaica’s former world record-holder Asafa Powell.

American Ronnie Baker, who ran unbeaten during the indoor season over 60m and clocked a personal best of 9.99 seconds to open his outdoor season, as well as 2003 world champion Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis, are also included in the event.

Harrison Looking To Go Fast Again

The women’s 100m hurdles features world record-holder Kendra Harrison of the US and she will be looking to build on her world leading time of 12.56 seconds at the 2017 Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, over the weekend.

“I want to run fast and the conditions here are good for that,” she said. “It’s nice and hot.

“I heard that the track is really fast and hard so I’m really excited about that.”

Olympic silver medallist Nia Ali of USA, in addition to Cindy Ofili of Great Britain, an Olympic finallist, Germany’s Cindy Roleder, the European champion and world silver medallist, as well as Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds and USA’s Sharika Nelvis, will all be challenging Harrison.

Taylor Hunts Another Doha Win

In action in the field, American two-time world and Olympic champion Christian Taylor will seek a third Doha win when he features in the men’s triple jump.

Taylor will be making his third appearance in the event in the 2017 outdoor campaign, following his season best of 17.26m in Azusa, California, and his 16.93m performance to win at the Drake Relays last weekend.

The 26-year-old is set to battle with China’s Dong Bin, who is the world indoor champion and Olympic bronze medallist in the event.

USA’s Omar Craddock, who was third behind Taylor at Drake Relays and Alexis Copello, who won a bronze medal at the 2009 World Championships while competing for Cuba before switching to represent Azerbaijan, are also capable of challenging for a podium spot.

More Action In The Field Events

In the women’s shot put, USA’s Olympic champion Michelle Carter leads a solid field, which also includes Hungary’s current world leader Anita Marton, who is the Olympic bronze medallist.

Marton, the European indoor champion, has already thrown 19.63m this term.

USA’s Brittany Smith and veteran Cleopatra Borel of Trinidad and Tobago will also lineup in the event.

The men’s high jump competition sees home hero Mutaz Barshim seeking his first ever victory at the Doha Diamond League

Barshim, who is the Olympic silver medallist and two-time Diamond Trophy winner, enters this series opener as the world leader with a mark of 2.35m.

USA’s Erik Kynard, the 2016 Diamond Trophy winner and the 2012 Olympic silver medallist, as well as Great Britain’s London Games bronze medal winner Robbie Grabarz of Great Britain, will also contest the event.

Elsewhere at the 2017 Doha Diamond League meet the 400m field on the men’s side will feature current world leader Steven Gardiner from the Bahamas and he will take on 2008 Olympic champion LaShawn Merritt of the US and Botswana’s Karabo Sibanda.

Doha IAAF Diamond League 2016 Live Stream; Preview, Starting Lists

By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: May 6, 2016 8:47 am Leave a Comment

DOHA, QATAR, Sporting Alert – A large volume of past Olympic and IAAF World Championships champions and other medal winners will be in action at the opening IAAF Diamond League meeting in Doha, on Friday.

No fewer than 38 gold medallists, from previous Olympic Games and World Championships, in addition to some 80 athletes which have won other medals, are gearing up to get the series underway in what is expected to be another great atmosphere inside the “Hamad Bin Suhaim Stadium.”

Live streaming coverage will be available for USA viewers on beIN Sports and beIN Sports Connect – starting at 12:00 p.m. ET.

For those with an European IP address, they can head over to Eurosport for their online player live streaming coverage. For event by event starting

Among the leading athletes down to compete on Friday are sprinters Veronica Campbell-Brown, LaShawn Merritt, Dafne Schippers, longer distant runners Caster Semenya, Alma Ayana, Hurdlers Omar McLeod and Jamaican countryman Hansle Parchment, as well as jumpers Christian Taylor and Mutaz Essa Barshim.

After his outstanding start to the outdoor season this term, where he clocked a personal best of 9.99 secs for the 100m and opened his hurdles campaign with a world-leading 13.08 secs time in terrible conditions last week at the Drake Relays, everyone will now want to see what kind of performance McLeod will deliver on his Diamond League debut.

One of his main challengers could be his fellow countryman, Parchment, who is the Olympic bronze medallist.

World record holder Aries Merritt of USA will be hoping for a better performance this weekend after he was choppy at Drake and struggled to find his rhythm.

American veteran David Oliver will also be in the line-up.

The men’s 400m event could also produce a fast time, with American LaShawn Merritt, the second fastest man in the world this year, seeking to break his own meeting record of 44.19 secs.

The 2008 Olympic champion also has his eyes set on breaking the world record of 43.18 and he thinks this could be the year Michael Johnson’s 1999 outstanding mark goes.

Lining up against the two-time world champion at the Diamond League meeting in Doha, on Friday will be great talents such as Olympic silver medallist Luguelín Santos from the Dominican Republic, Botswana’s Isaac Makwala, as well as Caribbean stars Machel Cedenio of Trinidad and Tobago and Bahamian Steven Gardiner.

Elsewhere on the track, Schippers and Campbell-Brown headline the women’s 100m field, Barshim heads things up in the men’s high jump, while Taylor promises to deliver something big in the men’s triple jump – if it is needed to win the competition.

In other events, South Africa’s 2009 world champion Caster Semenya will look to continue her rich form this season when she battles with Kenya’s 2013 world champion Eunice Sum in the women’s 800m.

Semenya is the world-leader with a time of 1:58.45.

The women’s 3000m will see the speedy Alma Ayana of Ethiopia, the world 5000m champion from Beijing 2015, going up against the 10,000m champion from those championships, Vivian Cheruiyot.

This one could be quick.

Stars Set For Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix: Live Results

By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: February 19, 2016 2:59 pm Leave a Comment

GLASGOW, UK, Sporting Alert – The following are the entry lists for the 2016 Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix – at the IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting – at Emirates Arena on Saturday (Feb 20).

How To Watch Live: The Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix will be live on BBC One from 1.00-4.30pm. (local time). 8:00 am-12:30 pm ET.

The meet will feature several superstars, including Great Britain double Olympic and five-time world champion Mo Farah, former world 100m champion Kim Collins of St. Kitts and Nevis and world 200 metre champion Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands.

Farah will take on a very strong field in the men’s 3000m that includes Augustine Choge of Kenya who has the third quickest time this season, at 7:39.23.

Dutch sprinter Dafne Schippers wins 200m world title

There were suggestions during the off-season that Farah would have attempted to break the world indoor 3000m record at this meeting, but the Briton revealed during the meeting press conference that he was not in that kind of shape.

Follow Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix Live Results

He said he would have loved to challenge the world record which has stood since 1998, but at the moment his main goal is to go out and secure a victory with a good time.

“To be honest, it would have been nice to have had a few races and then try and see what I can do but I want to think about how I’m going to win this race and secondly, see if I can run a decent time,” Farah said.

“I don’t think I’m ready for the world record.

“It’s stood for many years – 7:24 by Daniel Komen. Nobody has gone close to that, not even Kenenisa Bekele or Haile Gebrselassie.

“I want to try to win the race, run a decent time and end on a high, chill out and come back for the World Half Marathon Championships.”

Meanwhile, Dafne Schippers, who raced away with the gold medal in the women’s 200m at the last world championships in Beijing, last summer, will take her impressive early season form into the women’s 60m dash on Saturday.

Schippers, who will try to win the short sprint at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland next month, owns three of the fastest four times over 60m this season, including the world-leading time of 7.00 seconds.

“We will see – I hope that I run faster than I did, that’s always your goal. It (the 7.00) was a very good race and it’s a top field tomorrow, so that’s very nice for me,” Schippers said.

“The 60m I normally say is not my event because it’s too short for me but this season has started very well for me. It’s important to work on my starts ahead of the World’s (Indoor Championships).”

The Dutch sprinter added: “It’s my first winter training as a sprinter which is new and I like it.

“When you do the heptathlon, there’s always a feeling that you’ve forgotten to do something. Sprinting is easier for the mind.”

Schippers is expected to be challenged by a talented list of sprinters, including Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson, the world 200m silver medalist, Poland’s Ewa Swoboda, who has posted a time of 7.07 secs already this season, American Barbara Pierre (7.09), as well as Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith (7.11) and Michelle-Lee Ahye (7.12) of Trinidad and Tobago.

Former NCAA standout Dezerea Bryant of USA will be another sprinter to watch for, as she owns a very solid start that could put pressure on the field.

In the men’s 60m dash, the evergreen Kim Collins will hunt his second victory this week when he takes on the likes of world 100m medallist Trayvon Bromell of USA, his fellow countrymen Michael Rodgers and Joseph Morris, Britain’s Adam Gemili and Jamaica’s Julian Forte.

Schippers, Rodgers Post Fast 60m Times In Karlsruhe

By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: February 6, 2016 4:41 pm Leave a Comment

KARLSRUHE, Germany, Sporting Alert – Dafne Schippers and Mike Rodgers ran away with the short sprint titles at the opening IAAF World Indoor Tour meeting — the Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe in Germany — on Saturday.

Schippers, the World 200m champion and European record-holder, raced away with the women’s 60m dash title in a time of 7.08 seconds to defeat American Barbara Pierre, who was second in 7.09 secs.

Earlier in the day in the heats, the Dutch star sprinter Schippers, who owns a personal best time of 7.05 secs, achieved last year, set a world-leading time of 7.07 secs to qualify fastest for the final.

Pierre followed her home second in that heat in 7.15.

Meanwhile, in the final, Great Britain star sprinter Dina Asher-Smith, who finished fifth behind Schippers in the final of the women’s 200m dash at the world championships in Beijing, China, last summer, ran 7.11 for third place in the 60m in Karlsruhe.

Marie Josée Ta Lou finished fourth with a new personal time of 7.14, while Rosangela Santos of Brazil ran a new Area record of 7.19 secs for fifth place.

RODGERS RUNS BACK-TO-BACK WL

In the men’s category, American Rodgers posted back-to-back world-leading times of 6.52 seconds to get his IAAF World Indoor Tour series off to a positive start.

After producing the time to take his heat earlier in the day, Rodgers returned to duplicate the performance to beat St Kitts and Nevis veteran sprinter Kim Collins, who finished second in 6.54.

Trell Kimmons of USA was third in 6.58 secs, the same time credited to fellow countryman Joe Morris.

Rodgers (6.52) and Collins (6.54) were the qualifying round heat winners.

LAVILLENIE DOMINATES POLE VAULT

In the meantime, French pole vault world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie set a new meeting record of 5.91m on his way to dominating the event in Karlsruhe.

Entering the competition at 5.70m, Lavillenie needed three tries to clear the height before passing to 5.84m. The Frenchman also had to take his three tries at that height as well, but his successful effort secured the win.

With victory already in the bag, Lavillenie went on to clear 5.91m before the Olympic champion decided to end the competition.

World leader and reigning world champion Shawnacy Barber of Canada was second with a mark of just 5.77m. Barber leads the world with a mark of 6.00m, cleared last month.

Raphael Marcel Holzdeppe of Germany, the world championships silver medallist, was third with an effort of 5.70m.

World Champ Dafne Schippers To Race At Karlsruhe Indoor

By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: December 18, 2015 2:01 pm Leave a Comment

KARLSRUHE, Germany, Sporting Alert – World champion Dafne Schippers has added the Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe to her inside racing schedule for next season.

Schippers, who captured the IAAF World Outdoor Championships 200m title in Beijing, China, this past summer, has been confirmed for the opening competition of the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Tour, which organisers say will take place on Saturday 6 February.

The former heptathlete has found a new passion for the sprints and she has been one of the most exciting competitors to break through the ranks in the short sprinting events over the last few seasons.

When she lines up in the short dash in seven weeks’ time, Schippers will be hoping to bounce back from her disappointment in Karlsruhe the last time out, having been disqualified in the 60m final in the German city, this after running 7.12 secs in the heats.

Schippers, the European record-holder, will race in the women’s 60m dash, the indoor event she landed a European Indoor Championships gold medal earlier this year.

The Dutch sprinter, en route to that victory, produced a 2015 joint world-leading time and set a personal best of 7.05 in Prague.

She shared the best indoor mark over 60m with Murielle Ahoure from the Ivory Coast.

In total, Schippers ran three times faster than 7.10 seconds for 60m last year, while her fourth quickest on the term was dead on the money, at 7.10.

Meanwhile, meet organisers have also confirmed that Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie of France, and IAAF World Championships silver medallist Raphael Holzdeppe of Germany, will take part in the men’s pole vault competition.

Looking ahead to the meeting, Holzdeppe recalled: “The atmosphere in the hall was great it did last year. Unfortunately, I could not transfer my performance this mood due to an illness overnight.

“The preparation is currently running at full speed and I am very pleased by the development.”

Meeting organisers have also revealed that 2,400 of the total 4,200 seats have already been snapped.

Schippers Holds Off Thompson To Win World 200m Gold

By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: August 28, 2015 1:32 pm Leave a Comment

BEIJING, China, Sporting Alert – Dafne Schippers blasted to a championship and European record on her way to winning the women’s 200m world title over Jamaican Elaine Thompson in Beijing, on Friday.

Schippers, who finished second in the 100m final to Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce on Monday, returned to win the 200m in a staggering 21.63 seconds, the third-fastest time ever in the event.

The Dutch star chased down Thompson in the home straight to make up for coming up short in the 100m.

“I was hoping to run under 22-seconds, but to do this is crazy. I am so happy,” Schippers told BBC Sports.

Jamaica’s Thompson took the silver in a new personal best time of 21.66 second, while championships veteran Veronica Campbell-Brown, also from Jamaica, shockingly held her form to take the bronze medal in a season’s best time of 21.97.

American Candyce McGrone ran a lifetime best effort of 22.01 for fourth, with Dina Asher-Smith setting a new British record of 22.07 for 5th.

Jamaica grabbed a gold medal in the women’s 100m hurdles through Danielle Williams, who posted a new personal best of 12.57 seconds to win the gold medal, as USA failed to win a medal in the event.

The silver went to Cindy Roeleder of Germany in a personal of 12.59 secs, with Alina Talay taking the bronze with a Belorussian record of 12.66.

Event favourite and defending champion Brianna Rollins of USA ran 12.67 and finished out of the medals.

Another American, Sharika Nelvis, who come to these championships with the fastest time of the season finished last, while 2008 Olympic champion Dawn Harper-Nelson, didn’t make the final after crashing out of the event in the semifinals.

In the men’s 110m hurdles Sergei Shubenkov took gold in a Russian record of 12.98 seconds, while Olympic bronze medallist Hansle Parchment of Jamaica took silver in a season’s best 13.03.

American Olympic champion and world-record holder Aries Merritt finished third in 13.04.

Meanwhile, in the women’s Long Jump competition, American Tianna Bartoletta produced a fantastic 7.14 metres to win her second world championships gold medal.

She won her first title 10-years-ago in Helsinki.

Shara Proctor of Great Britain, who led the event until Bartoletta’s winning effort, won the silver medal with a national record of 7.07, while Ivana Spanovic of Serbia was third at 7.01.

Dafne Schippers v Elaine Thompson: Dutch Favourite For Gold

By:Brittney Berreth | Staff Writer Published on: August 28, 2015 2:09 am 1 Comment

BEIJING, China, Sporting Alert – Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands is favourite to win the women’s 200m title at the IAAF World Championships on Friday, according to Sky Bet.

Schippers, who finished second to Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m on Monday, has looked impressive throughout the championships so far and she heads into the medal race as the 4/11 favourite for the gold medal.

The European champion cruised to 22.36 seconds to win her semi-final heat on Thursday and she had a lot left in the tank.

Jamaican champion Elaine Thompson, who trains with Fraser-Pryce in Kingston, also looked very comfortable when winning her semis in 22.13 seconds and she is being backed at 9/4 to win the gold medal.

Like Schippers, Thompson is also not the quickest out of the blocks, but they have very fast leg speed, as both women have personal bests in the low 10.8s in the 100m, which were achieved this season.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith comes in as the 10/1 contender to be the gold medal winner.

The 19-year-old, who ran 22.12 secs to win her semis, looked bang on form in the first two rounds, and she led all qualifiers heading into the final.

However, unlike Thompson and Schippers who eased down significantly before the finish line, Asher-Smith ran all the way through the line in both her qualifying heats and it could affect her recovery for the decider.

The rest of the field is completed by American Candyce McGrone, at 40/1, with Ivet Lalova-Collio of Bulgaria, Jamaicans Veronica Campbell-Brown and Sherone Simpson and USA’s Jeneba Tarmoh, all at 100/1 to win the gold medal.

Base on form, Schippers will be the favourite, but she could find the going a little tough against Thompson, who did not run in the 100m.

If Thompson gets away to a fast start, which I think will happen, the Jamaican, who has a personal best of 22.10 secs, could deliver something special and hold off the Dutch star who I believe will be a little tired from running five rounds of sprints already.

In looking at a possible winning time, Sky Bet has odds of 8/11 for a 21.79 seconds and slower, with a 21.78 seconds and quicker being at 1/1.

2011 champion Campbell-Brown, who also won two Olympic gold medals in this discipline, is at 9/1 to collect a medal.

Gold Medal Winner
Dafne Schippers 4/11
Elaine Thompson 9/4
Dina Asher-Smith 10/1
Candyce McGrone 40/1
Ivet Lalova-Collio 100/1
Veronica Campbell-Brown 100/1
Jeneba Tarmoh 100/1
Sherone Simpson 100/1

World Champ Fraser-Pryce: “I’m Getting Tired Of 10.7s”

By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: August 24, 2015 5:26 pm Leave a Comment

BEIJING, China, Sporting Alert – Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce held off a charging Dafne Schippers to win her third World Championships 100m title in Beijing, on Monday.

Fraser-Pryce, who stopped the clock at 10.76 seconds, the second-fastest time in the world this year behind her own 10.74 secs, got away from the field in the middle of the race and then held on for victory as the fast finishing Schippers ran out of real estate.

Sporting her bright green hair, the Jamaican sprinter celebrated her victory by lifting her right arm as she pointed her index finger in the direction of the cheering crowd while crossing the line.

“I wanted green in my hair, so I did green. And I got my sunflowers to match,” Fraser-Pryce said.

“I’ve never done it before. Just said, ‘OK, I’m doing my hair green.'”

Fraser-Pryce, who had also won gold in the discipline in 2009 and 2013, became the only woman to win three 100 world championships crowns.

Her achievement also saw her matching countryman Usain Bolt, who captured the men’s title on Sunday, and American legends Maurice Greene and Carl Lewis on the overall list.

The Olympic champion was delighted at winning another gold medal, but admits she would like to run faster.

In fact, all her winning times since the Beijing Olympics in 2008 have been in the 9.7s.

Fraser-Pryce ran 10.71 seconds to win the world title in Moscow in 2013, 10.75 secs to lift the Olympic crown in London in 2012, 10.73 for the Berlin crown and 10.78 to win the Olympic title in 2008.

“I’m getting tired of 10.7s,” She told BBC Sport. “I just want to put a good race together and hopefully in the next race I get the time I’m working for.

“I definitely think a 10.6 is there. Hopefully I will get it together.”

Fraser-Pryce also added that there should be no comparison between her and Bolt.

“Usain ran 9.7. I ran 10.7. It’s not about upstaging anyone,” she said.

“In his own way, he is who he is and he has nothing to do with me. It’s about what I want to do and what’s important to me.”

Meanwhile, Netherlands former heptathlete Schippers impressively won the silver medal and lowered her own national record to 10.81, while American Tori Bowie took the bronze in 10.86.

“I’m so very happy. It’s a national record and I’m second in the world,” Schippers told reporters after her medal winning performance.

“It’s crazy. Three years before I was third in the heptathlon, now I’ve come into the sprint and I’ve got a medal.

“I was a little bit nervous in the semi-final and after that I thought ‘anything is possible’. The start was good and I was close at the end.

“When you’re close to Fraser-Pryce you know you’ve got a medal.”

Fraser-Pryce Runs 10.82, Leads All Qualifiers In Beijing

By:Gary Smith, Lead Sports Writer Published on: August 24, 2015 12:28 pm Leave a Comment

BEIJING, China, Sporting Alert – Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce leads all qualifiers heading into the final of the women’s 100m at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing, on Monday.

The reigning champion flashed to a well relaxed 10.82 seconds to win semi-final one and earned her place in the gold medal race.

Fraser-Pryce got away to another quick start and build a comfortable lead before shutting things down in the second part of the race to win easily over Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare, who posted 10.89 secs for second.

Another gold medal contender, Tori Bowie of the United States, took the second semi-finals in 10.87 secs and she too looks like she still had something left in reserve for the final.

Bowie got home ahead of Kelly-Ann Baptiste of Trinidad and Tobago who ran 10.90, with the fast finishing Jamaican, Natasha Morrison running a personal best of 10.96 for third place and a spot in the final.

Dafne Schippers of the Netherlands continued her outstanding form this season by setting another personal best and national record of 10.83 secs to win the third and final semi-final heat.

Schippers, who decided to step away from the multi-event to concentrate on the sprints, seems to have made the correct decision, as she sent a very strong message to the likes of Bowie and Fraser-Pryce with her heat winning performance and lifetime best.

Jamaican veteran Veronica Campbell-Brown ran a seasonal best of 10.89 secs for second place to Schippers, with Trinidad and Tobago’s Michelle-Lee Ahye taking third in 10.97 and qualified as one of the fastest losers.

Reigning world silver medallist Murielle Ahoure of the Ivory Coast just missed the final after taking fourth in that semis in 10.98.

It was also a disappointing performance from English Gardner of the United States who ran 11.13 for sixth in her semi-final and failed to make the final.

The final of the event will be later on Monday night, Beijing time.
