By:CEDRIC HANCOCK Published on: March 5, 2017 12:07 pm Leave a Comment

CHICAGO — Jamal Crawford hopped off the bench to score 25 points and the Los Angeles Clippers overwhelmed the Chicago Bulls in the second half to pick up a 101-91 victory in the NBA on Saturday night. Download Box Scores and Game Book

Before Saturday’s victory, the Clippers had lost two straight games and four of five.

”We definitely needed a win,” Crawford said. ”Everything is better. The food tastes better, the flight will be better, you know, but it’s a total team effort.”

Crawford, who scored 17 points in the second half, shot 10-of-17 from the floor overall, while scoring 10 points in a 14-7 stream in the fourth quarter.

”He’s going to always break out,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said about the soon to be 37-year-old Crawford, who had struggled recently.

”I always tell him to give yourself a shooter’s chance. If you don’t shoot it, you have no chance of breaking out of it.”

Chris Paul added 17 points, Blake Griffin ended with 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds, JJ Redick scored 13 points for the Clippers in the road win.

Luc Mbah a Moute finished with 12 points and DeAndre Jordan grabbed 14 rebounds for Los Angeles (37-25), which sits 13.5 games behind Golde State in the Pacific standings and remains fifth in the Western Conference standings.

Jimmy Butler scored 16 points and dished out six assists and big man Robin Lopez ended with 12 points and six rebounds for the Bulls, who had won five of their last six games.

Bobby Portis added 11 points and seven rebounds, Dwyane Wade contributed 10 points and six assists and Paul Zipser scored 10 points in the defeat for Chicago (31-31), which scored just 12 points in the third quarter.

”He went 1-on-1 and you can’t do anything when he is going like that,” said Wade on Crawford.

”When they have guys making shots like that, we are taking the ball out of the basket.

“Our offensive rhythm is not the same as it was in the first half when we were able to get stops and go the other way.”

Chicago led 61-55 at halftime.

LA Clippers Hold On For 102-93 Win Over Celtics

By:Kim-Wellington Published on: January 19, 2015 6:57 pm Leave a Comment

LOS ANGELES (Sporting Alert) — Five Los Angeles Clippers players scored in double figures, but the team almost blew a big lead in their 102-93 victory over the Boston Celtics at STAPLES Center on Monday evening.

Blake Griffin shot 50-percent from the field in scoring 22 points, while pulling down nine rebounds and dishing out six assists for the LA Clippers (28-14), who were 47.6 percent as a team from the floor.

DeAndre Jordan had 19 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks, with J.J. Redick and Jamal Crawford each contributing 16 points in the win,.

Brandon Bass led the Celtics with 17 points off the bench, Marcus Thornton hit 3 of his 6 three-point attempts to add 15 in a reserve role as well, while Marcus Smart, who went 4-of-7 from 3-point range ended with 14 points and seven assists in the defeat.

Los Angeles Clippers raced out to an 11-2 lead early in the first half and went into the halftime break ahead 47-37.

The hosts then extended their advantage to as many as 23 points with 4:13 left in the third quarter, but Boston made a run in the fourth quarter to cut the gap to just three points with 3:49 left before Doc Rivers’ side held on for the win.

Star point guard Chris Paul, who was limited to just nine points and six assists in the game, was happy with the win, but disappointed with the way the Clippers allowed Boston back into the game.

“We shouldn’t have let these guys back into the game,” Paul said. “The good thing is we were able to hold them off.”

Meanwhile, Boston also got useful contributions as well from Jared Sullinger, who scored 14 points and eight rebounds.

Evan Turner contributed a double-double of 10 points and 10 boards for the Celtics (13-26), which dropped three straight and five of the last six.

“We can’t be down by that much. We took a lot of contested shots in the first half, and that’s not good,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens said after the defeat.

“We were better in the second half. We closed it to three, but we missed a couple of good looks down the stretch.”

Boston was losing for the fourth time in the last five matchups with the Clippers, who improved to 4-1 against them during the series.

Clippers will play host to the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night, while the Celtics are at the Portland Trail Blazers on the same night.

Redick has been struggling to get going in games, but he never stopped believing in himself.

“I’m a positive person and my glass is always half-full,” he told reporters after the game. “I knew I would start making some shots.

“I never got too discouraged, but frustrated for sure.”

Paul grabbed 22 points and 11 assists and Blake Griffin added 23 points and six rebounds in the win for the home side, which improved to 3-1 at STAPLES Center.

Clippers (4-2) head coach Doc Rivers handed Jamal Crawford a starting place on the day over Matt Barnes, and the shooting guard hit 3 for 5 from three-point range and finished with 20 points in the contest.

Damian Lillard paced the Trail Blazers (3-3) with 25 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, while LaMarcus Aldridge supported well with 21 points and 10 boards in the defeat.

“They came out in the second half with a lot more energy and were more active and picked it up and played at a different level,” Lillard said.

“Redick was the difference. We should have defended him tighter but he made it tough on us when he started making shots.”

Robin Lopez scored 19 points and seven rebounds and Wesley Mattews added 14 points for Portland

James Harden paced the Houston (6-1) with 22 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Isaiah Canaan added 21 points in the defeat for the Rockets, which played without star center Dwight Howard, who missed out with flu-like symptoms and power forward Terrence Jones, who is suffering from a bruised right leg injury.

Warriors Beat Clippers; Cavs, Heat Lose Again: NBA Scores

By:Adam Fratzke Published on: November 6, 2014 9:32 am Leave a Comment

OAKLAND, Calif. (Sporting Alert) — Stephen Curry scored 28 points and Draymond Green added a career-high 24, and the Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Clippers 121-104 for their fourth win in a row and stayed undefeated on the season.

Curry also dished out seven assists and six rebounds for the Warriors (4-0), while Green pulled down eight rebounds and had five assists in the victory. Klay Thompson, who picked up two early fouls, scored 19 points for Golden State.

“It was very intense,” said new coach Steve Kerr, who is the first coach in franchise history to start his career with a 4-0 record.

“We have such an incredible crowd; it’s electric in this building.

“When we get moving, like we did tonight, we get a lot of momentum, and we should use that momentum and noise in our favor.

“Our guys were ready. They brought the energy, and so did our crowd.”

Jamal Crawford paced the Clippers (3-2) with 24 points off the bench, DeAndre Jordan added 17 points and 13 rebounds and Chris Paul finished with 15 points, 12 assists and four steals for the Clippers, which never recovered from their slow start.

“I saw a beautiful game from one team,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. “They are a better team right now and by a lot.”

Golden State, which scored 65 first half points, shot 60 percent from long range, 58 percent from the floor as a team and knocked-down 20-of-20 from the free throw line in the rout.

“Our first-half defense, that was beautiful,” said Warriors’ said Kerr.

“Draymond was playing Blake (Griffin) tough in the post. Guys were flying to the ball, covering for each other, getting out on their 3-point shooters.

“Except for the turnovers, I like what we did on offense. But the best part of the game was our first-half defense.”

Griffin had 14 points in the defeat for the LA Clippers and J.J. Redick added 12.

THE CAVS DROP ANOTHER

Meanwhile, at the EnergySolutions Arena in Salt Lake City, Gordon Hayward hit a buzzer-beating game-winning jumper and the Utah Jazz stunned LeBron James the Cleveland Cavaliers 102-100.

Hayward, who finished with 21 points in the game, made the step-back 21-foot jumper to win the game for the Jazz, after James had scored three free throws to tied the scores at 100-100 with 0:03 seconds left on the clock.

The small forward, who was scoring 20-plus points for the third successive game, was full of emotions after hitting the winning basket.

“I’ve never really done that before,” Hayward said. “It was just one of those moments.

“But how can you not show emotion after a finish like that?

“For us to win the game after being in control the whole game and then see it slipping away, it was pretty special. Just exhilaration!”

Derrick Favors also scored 21 points and 10 rebounds for Utah (2-3), with Enes Kanter adding 18 points.

Kyrie Irving had 34 points, James finished with 31 and Kevin Love added 14 for the Cavaliers (1-3), which dropped back-to-back games.

Utah controlled the game for most of the way and even led by as many as 16 points before Cleveland made a run to cut the gap.

“It’s tough. You work hard to get back and once again we dug ourselves a hole,” James said. “We came out and didn’t defend like we did in the second half.

“You dig yourself a hole and it’s kind of like the karma of the game.”

HEAT LOSE AGAIN…

Miami coach Erik Spoelstra warned that their good start to the season could turn with one defeat and he seems to have hit the nail right on the head after the Heat suffered its second defeat in two nights.

Al Jefferson finished a game and season-high 28 points and pulled in 10 rebounds for the Charlotte Hornets to beat Miami 96-89 at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Dwyane Wade scored 25 points and seven assists and Chris Bosh added 23 points and 13 rebounds in the defeat for the Heat.

The Memphis Grizzlies (5-0) also continued their undefeated start to the season, following a 102-91 victory over Phoenix Suns (3-2), which secured their fifth successive win on the term.

NBA SCORES AND RESULTS
