Lescott replaced Matija Nastasic in the backline and will play alongside his captain Vincent Kompany. Full-back Maicon is also part of the starting back line for Manchester City.

Carlos Tevez and Edin Dzeko both start up front today, with Gareth Barry, David Silva and Samir Nasri all starting as well.

However, James Milner misses out because of a hamstring problem he picked up against Wigan in midweek.

As far as Everton team news, the big one is that left-back Leighton Baines starts after he passed a late fitness test  – recovering from a hamstring injury.
