Also in the Milan starting line-up are Kevin-Prince Boateng, Clarence Seedorf and Massimo Ambrosini, but the Serie A leaders are without the likes of Thiago Silva, Alexandre Pato and Gattuso, who are all injured, while Mark van Bommel is out suspended.
In defence, Alessandro Nesta returns to partner Philippe Mexes, while Daniele Bonera and Luca Antonini will also play at the back.
“We are ready for this challenge,” Allegri said. “It’ll be a very difficult quarter-final against the best team in the UEFA Champions League; we have to play a great game.”
Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez and Iniesta are all in the starting team for Barcelona, alongside Xavi and Sergio Busquets, but Cesc Fabregas is on the bench.
