Team News: Manchester City v Reading, Rekik starts

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Roberto Mancini has handed 18-year-old Dutchman Karim Rekik his Barclays Premier League debut for Manchester City in today’s game against Reading.

Rekik comes into the side at left-back as a replacement for Gael Clichy, as City made two changes from the team that beat Newcastle United last weekend.

Captain Vincent Kompany is on the bench after recovering from a groin problem with Joleon Lescott sitting next to him.

Gareth Barry also comes into the starting team and is playing alongside Javi Garcia in central midfield, with Carlos Tevez, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure all starting as well.

Reading FC, disappointed  from Monday night’s 5-2 hammering by Arsenal, made four changes with Chris Gunter, Ian Harte, Alex Pearce and Jem Karacan all coming in for Nicky Shorey, Kaspars Gorkss, Shaun Cummings and Noel Hunt.
