(Sporting Alert) — Summer recruits Santi Cazorla, Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud were all named in Arsenal starting line-up for their Barclays Premier League game against Stoke City at Britannia Stadium on Sunday.
Arsenal, which draw its opening game of the campaign will be hoping to take all three points against a very difficult Stoke side – normally tough to breakdown at home.
With Robin van Persie gone manager Arsene Wenger is looking to Giroud and Podolski to get the goals this season with Gervinho also linking up with them.
Meanwhile, Italian goalkeeper has been named to start in goal after regular No. 1 Wojciech Szczesny failed a fitness test on a rib injury.
Arsenal are also without backup Lukasz Fabianski, who is also out with a back injury.
In the meantime, Peter Crouch will lead the attack for Stoke and he is expected to be a handful for the Arsenal backline, especially on set-pieces.
