TEAMS: Swansea v Arsenal, Flamini Starts

Arsenal boss Wenger

SWANSEA, Wales (Sporting Alert) — Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger makes just one adjustment to his team for today’s English Premier League clash with Swansea City at The Liberty Stadium.

The only change to the Gunners side that drew 3-3 with Anderlecht is Mathieu Flamini coming into the midfield for Mikel Arteta, who misses the game with a hamstring injury.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey also starts for Arsenal, but Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere are both on the bench and could see some time as the game progresses.

Defender Per Mertesacker will make his 100th Premier League appearance and he leads an Arsenal back four that also includes Calum Chambers, Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs.

An in-form Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Danny Welbeck make up the attacking force, while Tomas Rosicky, Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo are all on the bench.

Swansea City, in the meantime, made three changes from the team that started in the goalless draw at Everton last weekend.

Manager Garry Monk has handed starts to winger Marvin Emnes and centre-back Kyle Bartley, who are in for Wayne Routledge and the injured Federico Fernandez, while Tom Carroll has replaced Jonjo Shelvey in the midfield.

Shelvey is suspended for this game.

Swansea City are on 10 points and sit eighth in the EPL standings, with Arsenal fifth on 15 points.

“We have a way of working and the squad understands what we want to do,” Monk told Sky Sports about the team he picked to play without the key missing pieces.

“We have players who can hurt Arsenal,” he added.
