CHICAGO (Sporting Alert) — Derrick Rose and Carmelo Anthony have both been ruled out of tonight’s NBA game featuring the Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks at United Center.
The game will be live on TNT Network and streamed live on TNT Overtime.
Anthony has been feeling some soreness on his left knee in recent weeks and he admitted prior to Thursday’s shootaround the he’s been advised to take a break to allow the problem to heal.
“I have multiple people say kind of just shut it down,” Anthony told reporters. “Or just take time off.
“But at the end of the day, it’s hard for me to just do that right now in the midst of what’s happening with the team and this season.
“So just trying to be smart about that.”
The star forward revealed that he has been playing with the pain during the season, but added that it started to bother him more in Tuesday night’s defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.
“Some days it feels like I can go. Some days it feels like I have everything,” he said.
“The other day it was a little sore in the first half and I didn’t have no lift in my shot, and in the second half the lift came back a little bit.
“It’s going to be off and on like that.”
Meanwhile Rose will also miss the game for the Bulls because of an illness the team said.
However, the home team welcomes back forward Taj Gibson and star center Joakim Noah for the contest.
The New York Nicks have dropped 12 of their last 13 games and are on a two game losing skid.
It has been very difficult to win without their star-man, so it is highly unlikely that the Knicks will end their disastrous run tonight without Anthony.
