NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — The following is a list of the NCAA top 25 men’s college basketball games played on Thursday night, March 13.
Among the winners on the night were No. 4 Arizona (29-3), which raced to commanding 71-39 victory over Utah (21-11), No. 5 Louisville (27-5), which battered Rutgers (12-21) by a score of 92-31 and No. 10 Kansas (24-8) who be Oklahoma State (21-12) in overtime, 77-70.
Also in top 25 action on the night, Sterling Gibbs hit a late-late buzzer beating jumper to help Seton Hall stunned No. 3 Villanova (28-4) by a score of 64-63 victory in the Big East tournament.
At Madison Square Garden, Doug McDermott scored record 27 of his 35 points in the first half on his way to leading No. 14 Creighton (25-6) to a 84-62 victory over DePaul.
McDermott’s performance was a record for points in a half in a Big East Tournament game. He also became only the sixth Division I player to score 800 points in three consecutive seasons, joining a list that also includes Larry Bird, who did so for Indiana State, through the 1976-79 seasons.
