Transfer rumour and gossip: Arsenal target Ba to move to Chelsea – Reports

By:JAMES ANDERSON Published on: December 30, 2012 8:49 am 2 Comments

LONDON (Sporting Alert) Newcastle United’s Demba Ba could be on his way to Chelsea FC with reports claiming the forward representatives are currently meeting with the Blues over a possible January transfer move.

Arsenal are said to be very interested in the striker as well, but SkySports are reporting that it is Chelsea who are the front runners to trigger his £7 million contract clauses.

Ba scored twice against Arsenal on Saturday to take his Premier League scoring tally to 13 goals in Newcastle’s 7-3 thrashing.

Arsene Wenger has come out and state his admiration for the Senegalese, who is believed to be growing frustrated at Newcastle and would welcome the transfer move to either Arsenal or Chelsea.

Chelsea are in the hunt for another striker to help ease the pressure off Fernando Torres, who plays week-in-and-week-out and it is believed that Rafa Benitez wants Ba to be that man.

He could cost the European champions close to £10 million though.

But former Blues coach Ray Wilkins believes if Ba was to make the move to the Premier League club, then it would be a very good piece of business.

Radamel Falcao, who was said to be on top of the Chelsea transfer list of targets, has revealed that he’s not interested in a January move away from Atletico Madrid, while Barcelona have no interest in selling Spanish international David Villa to anyone.
