Trey Burke, Michigan stunned No. 1 seed Kansas
ARLINGTON, Texas (Sporting Alert, Box Score) — Trey Burke nailed a jumper with 5.0 seconds left to send the game into overtime and then Michigan held on in overtime to stun No. 1 seed Kansas 87-85 in their sweet 16 NCAA March Madness game on Friday night.
Burke, who scored all of his 23 points in the second half and overtime, also added 10 assists in the victory for the Wolverines (29-7) which recovered from a 14 point deficit to tie the game at 76-76.
Mitch McGary collected 25 points and 14 rebounds, Glenn Robinson III added 13 points, eight boards and three steals and Nik Stauskas added 11 points in the victory for Michigan, which ended a five game winning run for the Jayhawks.
Kansas (31-6) were led by Ben McLemore, who scored 20 points, while Travis Releford finished with 16 points, six assists and five boards.
After the final whistle, Kansas coach Bill Self looked in disbelief as he could not believe his team surrendered a 10 point cushion with three-minutes left to lose the game at Cowboys Stadium.
