The following are four college football bowl games on the TV schedule for today, Dec. 28.

After the exciting action in the Military Bowl, Belk Bowl and the Holiday Bowl, which the Baylor Bears won 49-26 over the No. 17 ranked UCLA, the Independence Bowl, Russell Athletic Bowl and Meineke Car Care Bowl are all set for similar highlight on Friday.

The day will see Ohio taking on Louisiana-Monroe , making its first bowl appearance in the V100 Independence, while Rutgers will match Virginia Tech for the Russell Athletic honor.

“We are very excited that the hard work of the team and the staff have been noticed,” coach Todd Berry said.

“To have a historic season culminate in a bowl such as the Independence Bowl is extra special.”

Meanwhile, after a disappointing dip in form in the latter part of the season, Ohio junior Tyler Tettleton can’t wait to get back on the field to face Louisiana-Monroe.

“We’re eager and hungry to get back out there and play a good opponent in Louisiana-Monroe,” Tettleton was quoted as saying on Thursday.

“It’s exciting to be in a bowl game and have this opportunity.”

The night will conclude at the Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, where Minnesota and Texas Tech will battle for the Meineke Car Care of Texas.

Virginia Tech have completed its final preparation ahead of the game and quarterback Logan Thomas admits that they were nothing special done to tackle Rutgers at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

“No, we don’t prepare any differently,” Thomas said. “It’s still the same days of work. It’s basically the same time frame.

“We go as hard as we always have, if not harder because we feel like we have something to prove. You have to treat every day the same day and prepare the same way every time.”

Virginia Tech head coach Frank Beamer also confirmed that they will honor the Virginia Tech and Sandy Hook victims by wearing ribbon in the game.

“It’s just one of those things,” Beamer said “We’ve been through what those people up in Sandy Hook are going through.

“We’ve got 58 on the helmet there, the number of guys between us and them that were needlessly killed.”

On the game itself, Beamer addressed the importance of winning tonight.

He said, “The difference for us is in having a winning season or a non-winning season.

“I think these games are a great step for next year if you can be successful and play well. I think our football team understands that.”
