World champion Abby Steiner will make her season debut as a professional athlete at the 2023 Rod McCravy Memorial – being held at Nutter Field House in Lexington, KY, this weekend. The American sprint ace, who was one of the dominant collegiate female sprinters last season, where she set several national records and personal bests before going on to represent the United States at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, last summer, will suit up in the PUMA colors for the first time since signing for the brand last year.
Steiner will race from heat one of the women’s 400m at the 2023 Kentucky Rod McCravy Memorial meeting on Saturday and will feature from lane four.
In her heat, the 23-year-old will battle against Na’Asha Robinson, Megan Moss of Kentucky, and Karimah Davis. Read More: Where to watch the 2023 Clemson Invite?
Steiner, who owns a blistering time of 35.80 seconds for the 300m, set last season at the Louisville Cardinal Classic, also enjoyed an impressive indoor campaign in 2022 where she posted a 200m American record time of 22.09 secs and went under 22-seconds three times during the outdoor season.
The former Kentuck star was also outstanding on 4x400m relay legs for the Wildcats last term –posting several sub-50 seconds splits and even dipping under 49 seconds a couple of times.
Steiner won a pair of gold medals as part of Team USA’s women’s 4x100m and 4x400m winning relay squads at the 2022 World Athletics Championships last summer.
