KINGSTON, Jamaica (Sporting Alert) — Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt was reportedly dumped by his British girlfriend Megan Edwards, who says a superstar and a regular office worker couldn’t last.

According to reports, Bolt fell for Edwards in the build up to the London Olympic Games after she modeled the Jamaican running kit, and the pair went on a number of “romantic dates.”

But the 22-year-old apparently made the split from the world’s fastest man after hearing of the busy life style he has.

The report said Bolt begged her to stay, but she was having none of it.

“I had to let my head rule my heart,” Edwards was quoted as saying on Mirror.

“It was amazing out there, but that’s where I decided it couldn’t go on. He was talking about having to fly here and there and I was going back to my office job.”

She added: “So when I got home I rang him and told him it wasn’t going to work. I said the distance thing and not seeing him often enough was a problem for me.

“He was very upset and said ‘Don’t do it, what can I do?’. I told him, ‘There is nothing you can do… you are who you are’.

“I am just a normal girl and I know people say, ‘You would have been fine with it’, but I wouldn’t. If I was a celebrity then our relationship probably would have lasted longer.”

Bolt created history when he became the first man to defend his 100m and 200m Olympic Games title in London in the summer.

Bolt also ran the anchor leg on the Jamaican quartet that set a new world record in the men’s 4x100m relay.

He holds the 100m record at 9.58 seconds and 200m record at 19.19secs.
