Van Persie, Kagawa return: Manchester United vs Galatasaray Live

MANCHESTER (Sporting Alert) — Striker Robin van Persie and attacking playmaker Shinji Kagawa both return to Manchester United’s starting XI to tonight’s Champions League Group H opener against Galatasaray at Old Trafford.

Van Persie returns after playing a limited role as a substitute in Saturday’s Barclays Premier League win over Wigan, while Kagawa was also rested.

Joining them in the starting team is defender Jonny Evans, who partners Nemanja Vidic in the heart of the defence, while David de Gea is back in goal.

Left-back Patrice Evra is also in Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting team, so too are Antonio Valencia, Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes and Nani.

Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez, who both started at the weekend are on the bench.

Manchester United vs Galatasaray Teams

Manchester United: De Gea, Da Silva, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Nani, Kagawa, van Persie. Subs: Lindegaard, Ferdinand, Anderson, Hernandez, Welbeck, Cleverley, Fletcher.

Galatasaray: Muslera, Eboue, Nounkeu, Kaya, Balta, Altintop, Felipe Melo, Inan, Amrabat, Burak Yilmaz, Bulut. Subs: Ceylan, Cris, Aydin Yilmaz, Elmander, Riera, Baytar, Colak.

Referee: Wolfgang Stark (Germany)
