Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their post-Harry Kane era with a 2-2 draw against Brentford in Sunday’s Premier League clash. The North London side, under the guidance of new manager Ange Postecoglou, showcased a different tactical approach, especially in the absence of Kane, who recently made a switch to Bayern Munich.
The match was marked by an action-packed first half. Spurs took the lead with a header from Cristian Romero in the 11th minute, assisted by James Maddison.
However, Brentford responded with goals from Bryan Mbeumo, from the penalty spot, and Yoane Wissa. Tottenham managed to level the scoreline just before half-time, thanks to a strike from Emerson Royal.
Richarlison, tasked with filling Kane’s shoes, was relatively subdued but did manage a notable attempt saved by Brentford’s goalkeeper, Mark Flekken. Flekken was in the lineup replacing David Raya, who is speculated to be on his way to Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Harry Kane featured for Bayern Munich in the German DFL-Supercup on Saturday and was soundly beaten 3-0 by RB Leipzig. – Click here for score
