Wade suspended, Howard fined by NBA

NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) Miami Heat star guard Dwyane Wade has been slapped with a one game suspension for kicking the Charolette Bobcats guard Ramon Sessions in the groin area on Wednesday night.

The NBA, also said Wade’s game suspension will be without pay.

Stu Jackson, the NBA’s executive vice president for basketball operations, made the announcement on Thursday after the league reviewed replays of the game, which showed Wade using his leg to make contact with Sessions’ groin with 8:12 left in the fourth quarter.

Sessions was called for a foul on the play.

The Miami Heat did go on to win the game 105-92 on Wednesday, with Wade scoring 29 points nine rebounds and five assists.

He will now sit out the road game on Friday night against Detroit Pistons.

In other NBA news, the Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard has been fined for his flagrant 2 foul on the Denver Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried.

Howard was fined $35,000 for the incident involving Faried, which saw the Lakers star ejected in the third quarter.

The Lakers were beaten 126-114 by the Nuggets, which saw their five game win streak snapped.
