LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Theo Walcott has been handed a starting place in Arsenal line-up for the Barclays Premier League clash at Emirates Stadium with Fulham.
Walcott started and scored in the Champions League in midweek and his call for a place in the starting XI has been granted.
Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has been named on the bench, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey are both named as substitutes as well.
Francis Coquelin comes in for the suspended Jack Wilshere, while Olivier Giroud leads the attack with Walcott and Lukas Podolski on the other side of him.
Arsenal and manager Arsene Wenger have been heavily criticized this season for the weak start. Last week’s outing added further pressure to both parties as well.
A defeat to Manchester United in the Premier League last week left the Gunners in seventh place on the table standings.
In the Champions League, the Gunners also gave up a two-goal lead against Schalke in midweek and had to settled for a 2-2 draw.
Former Manchester United players Kieran Richardson and Dimitar Berbatov both start for Fulham.
