DENVER — The Golden State Warriors beat the Denver Nuggets 118-105 on Sunday night to move to 15-0 and tied the best start in NBA history.

The defending NBA champions, who leapfrog the 1957-58 Boston Celtics side for the best start by a defending champion, was matching the 15 game winning starts of the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and the 1993-94 Houston Rockets.

Golden State will go for the record Tuesday against the Los Angeles Lakers at home.

On Sunday night, the Warriors shot 52.8 percent from the floor on 47-for-89 shooting and 51.7 percent from long range.

Klay Thompson paced Golden Staes with 21 points and seven assists, while Stephen Curry, who was rested for the entire fourth quarter adding 19 points, seven assists and three steals in the win for the visitors.

Harrison Barnes had 17 points, four assists and three steals and Draymond Green added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists for the Warriors, who got off to a strong start and led 64-58 at halftime.

Darrell Arthur led the Denver Nuggets with 21 points and eight rebounds, with Danilo Gallinari finishing with 19 points and six boards and Will Barton scored 19 points and six rebounds in the defeat.

Emmanuel Mudiay ended with 17 points and eight assists and Nikola Jokic grabbed a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Nuggets (6-8), who were losing three straight.

RAPTORS 91, CLIPPERS 80

LOS ANGELES — DeMar DeRozan and DeMarre Carroll each scored 21 points, and the Toronto Raptors handed the Los Angeles Clippers a 91-80 defeat in NBA action on Sunday.

DeRozan also grabbed six rebounds, while Carroll finished with five rebounds and four steals for the visitors who dominated the early goings at STAPLES Center.

Luis Scola added 20 points and Kyle Lowry had 13 points and 10 assists for Toronto (9-6), which shot just 37.2 percent from the field.

The LA Clippers were led by J.J. Redick, who scored 17 points with Chris Paul ending with 13 points, 11 assists and five rebounds and DeAndre Jordan adding 13 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks in the defeat.

Blake Griffin, who is averaging 24.8 points per game, was limited to just nine points on Sunday, while committing a team-high six turnovers on the day.

Jamal Crawford missed all six of his 3-point attempts and went 1-for-9 from the floor for eight points for the LA Clippers (6-7), who have now lost three straight and seven of the last nine games.

Doc Rivers side, which started the season with a 4-0 record, trailed by 29 points at halftime, which tied the franchise-worst first half deficit since moving to LA.
