As expected, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof are among the starters today in the back after Mourinho confirmed their selections over the weekend, given that Phil Jones and Eric Bailly are both suspended.

Ashley Young, Daley Blind, Juan Mata and Anthony Martial all come in as well, with Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford making way.

French midfielder Paul Pogba will captain the side tonight in the absence of Valencia, while Michael Carrick is only on the bench.

David de Gea stays in goal with Nemanja Matic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Romelu Lukaku also keeping their respective places.

Marouane Fellaini, who was a doubt to feature for Manchester United has a place on the bench, along with Jesse Lingard.

Meanwhile, former Norwich striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel leads the attack for FC Basel, with Renato Steffen and Mohammed Elyounoussi also starting.

This will be the fifth meeting between Manchester United and Basel – all in the Champions League – and the visitors are unbeaten against the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Overall entering this game, the record is balanced with one win for each side and two draws.

Team to face Basel: De Gea, Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Blind, Matic, Pogba, Mata, Mkhitaryan, Martial, Lukaku. Subs: Romero, Darmian, Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Lingard, Rashford.
