(Sporting Alert) — Cristiano Ronaldo fired home a rocket of a shot to open the scoring for Real Madrid in their Spanish La Liga clash against Real Betis on Saturday.

Ronaldo picked up the ball deep side the Real Betis half and then worked his way towards goal before unleashing a riffle of a shot that past goalkeeper Stephan Andersen in the ninth minute of play.

The Portugal international has been very impressive again this season and Real Madrid will be hoping to seal all three points on Saturday as they look to stay in tough with leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

A win today for Real Madrid would see them moving to 50pts, the same as Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, who will be in action on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Gareth Bale also scored for Real Madrid, who currently lead the game 2-0 on the road.
