BARCELONA (Sporting Alert) — Lionel Messi and Barcelona reminded the world of just good they are with an astonishing performance to dump AC Milan from the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Entering the game down 2-0, the Spanish La Liga leaders got an early goal through Messi, who scored twice in the game on their way to powering to a convincing 4-0 win and 4-2 on aggregate.

Messi cut the deficit to one goal when he finished off some cleverly play by Barcelona in the top of the net with Christian Abbiati stranded in the fifth minute. Xavi, returning to the side set the forward up for the opener.

The Argentine international grabbed another goal five-minutes before half-time when he beat Abbiati again with a stunning strike, seconds after Stephan El Shaarawy had hit the post at the other end for AC Milan.

David Villa and Jordi Alba then rounded things off in the 55th and in stoppage time.
