NO. 1 CLEMSON 23, N. 16 FLORIDA STATE 13

CLEMSON, S.C. — Deshaun Watson threw for 297 yards and a touchdown and Wayne Gallman ran for 103 yards and a score and No. 1 Clemson (No. 1 CFP, No. 3 AP) beat No. 16 Florida State 23-13 in a top ACC college football battle on Saturday.

The Tigers, who are the College Football Playoff top-ranked side, remained undefeated on the season and improved to 9-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play, while clinching a spot in the ACC title game.

Watson went 28 of 42 on passes and ran for 107 yards on 16 carries for Clemson, which trailed after 45 seconds in the contest.

Jordan Leggett had six catches for 101 and Deon Cain caught a touchdown pass and Greg Huegel had three field goals in the win for the Tigers, who took advantage of Florida State’s numerous penalties en route to lifting the ACC Atlantic Division trophy.

Dalvin Cook, who scored the opening points of the game with a 75-yard run, rushed for 194 yards for the Seminoles (7-2, 5-2 ACC).

NO. 8 NOTRE DAME 42, PITTSBURGH 30

PITTSBURGH — DeShone Kizer threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score and No. 5 Notre Dame stayed in touching distance of a College Football Playoff top four spot with a 42-30 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Kizer completed 19 of 26 passes for 262 yards, while his touchdown passes were from 47, 12, 46, 14 and 5 yards.

Will Fuller caught seven passes for 157 yards and three scores, while and Josh Adams ran for 147 yards and caught a ball for a touchdown for the Fighting Irish (8-1) who were winning their fourth straight game.

Nate Peterman threw for 223 yards with a touchdown for Pittsburgh (6-3), with Jordan Whitehead running for two scores in the defeat.

Tyler Boyd caught three passes for 84 yards and a touchdown, while running for another 42 yards for the Panthers.

Boyd also set a school record for career yards receiving for Pittsburgh which was losing its second successive game.

NO. 10 FLORIDA 9, VANDERBILT 7

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Austin Hardin made a 43-yard field goal with 2:22 remaining to push No. 11 Florida to a 9-7 win over Vanderbilt 9-7 in college football action on Saturday.

The Gators took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Commodores responded in the second to push in front 7-6.

However, Hardin put away a long-range field goal to earn Florida the win, as they clinched a spot in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

The Gators were winning its first SEC East title since 2009.

Demarcus Robinson took nine catches for 106 yards, while Treon Harris went 12 for 24 for 158 yards and Kelvin Taylor rushed for a score on the day for Florida.

Ralph Webb carried the ball 22 times for 118 yards and a score for Vanderbilt (3-6, 1-4 SEC) which held the Gators to 258 total yards.

Florida are 8-1 on the season overall and 6-1 in the SEC.
