The day saw the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints and the Kansas City Chiefs staying undefeated this season, but the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots both suffered their first defeat of the new campaign.
Matt Prater made a 28-yard field goal in the final seconds of the game and Denver (5-0) held off a very determined Dallas Cowboys (2-3) to stay unbeaten with a 51-48 win.
The Kansas City Chiefs also survived an interesting battle against the Tennessee Titans (3-2) to start 5-0 for the first time since 2003 this season when they won their first nine games, with a 26-17 victory on the road.
New Orleans Saints (5-0) beat the Chicago Bears (3-2) 26-18 to remained unbeaten as well with Drew Brees Pierre Thomas and Jimmy Graham among the highlighted players in the victory on the road at Soldier Field.
However, previously undefeated Seattle Seahawks (4-1) and New England Patriots (4-1) fell on the day.
The Seahawks failed to take care of business at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, beaten 34-28 by the Colts, while the Patriots fell 13-6 at Paul Brown Stadium to the Cincinnati Bengals (3-2).
Meanwhile, the New York Giants (0-5) remains winless this season after going down 36-21 to the Philadelphia Giants (2-3), which had a setback at quarterback when the injured Michael Vick was forced to leave the game late in the second quarter.
The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-5) also remain winless after their 34-20 defeat to the St. Louis Rams (2-3).
