MILAN (Sporting Alert) — Wesley Sneijder has moved a step closer to joining Manchester United in the new transfer window by announcing that he’s leaving Inter Milan.
Sneijder, whose last appearance for the Serie A side was in September, was told that he would only get back into the team if he decides to take a pay cut and sign a new contract.
However, the midfielder said in a statement that he’s not prepared to sign for a team that doesn’t show him any respect.
“At this moment in time I have no reason to sign,” the Dutchman said.
“How can I accept a new contract under these conditions when I am not even playing?
“As it stands, my decision is to not sign for Inter.”
Sneijder has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United since the breakdown and it is believed that Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to strengthen his midfield by bring in the creative Holland international to replace veterans Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, who will almost certain to wave goodbye to the fans at the end of the season.
