WEST BROM, Sporting Alert – Wilfried Bony will lead the attack for Manchester City with Sergio Aguero on the bench for today’s Premier League opener against West Bromwich at The Hawthorns.
Bony, who moved to Man City in January from Swansea City, gets his chance to lead the attacking line for the Citizens, as Aguero, who recently returned to training after being given an extended leave, is rested from the start.
Summer recruit Raheem Sterling, who will make his Premier League debut with his new club, David Silva and Jesus Navas are all expected to support Bony, with manager Manuel Pellegrini looking to start the campaign on a winning note.
Yaya Toure and Fernandinho will also play in the midfield, with Vincent Kompany and Eliaquim Mangala the starting pair at the centre-back positions.
Aleksandar Kolarov and Bacary Sagna also start in the back four.
Pablo Zabaleta, Samir Nasri and Martin Demichelis are among the substitutes.
Meanwhile, for West Bromwich, recently recruited forward Rickie Lambert, who joined from Liverpool after being stifled for playing time at Anfield, will make his official debut for his new club.
Lambert will start alongside Saido Berahino in the attack for Tony Pulis’ side, which will go in search of goals today.
The Experienced Darren Fletcher will start in midfield, with Craig Gardner, James McClean and James Morrison supporting the former Manchester United man.
In the backline, Craig Dawson and Joleon Lescott play in the heart of the defense, with Boaz Myhill the man starting in goal.
Available on the sub bench today for Pulis are Jonas Olsson, Claudio Yacob, Brown Ideye, Victor Anichebe, Callum McManaman and Stephane Sessegnon.
