(Sporting Alert) — Italian forward Fabio Borini was handed a starting place for Liverpool in their Barclays Premier League opener against West Bromwich at The Hawthorns on Saturday.

Borini looked good in preseason and manager Brendon Rodgers has decided to start him alongside Luis Suarez, with Andy Carroll starting the game on the bench.
Joe Allen was also handed a debut start and he will play in midfield with captain Steven Gerrard and the fir again Lucas.
Defender Daniel Agger, who has been linked with a move away from the club, starts in the defensive position and will partner Martin Skrtel in a backline that also includes Martin Kelly and Glen Johnson.
West Brom manager Steve Clarke has named Chelsea on loan forward Romelu Lukaku on the bench in his first competitive game.
