West Ham 2 Blackpool 1
LONDON (Sporting Alert) – Ricardo Vaz Te blasted home into the roof of the net from close range in the 87th minute and West Ham United sealed a return to the Barclays Premier League with victory in the npower Championship play-off final on Saturday.
West Ham won the game 2-1 at Wembley.
Vaz Te had two glorious chances in the first half, but failed to put them away and it was looking as though West Ham had ruin their chances of wining.
However, with the game locked at 1-1, Vaz Te pounced on a loose ball – made available by the hard working Charlton Cole – and fire home powerfully past the down and out goalkeeper, who had went in for the initial challenge on Cole.
Carlton Cole had given Sam Allardyce’s side a half-time lead when he ran behind the defenders and finished well.
But Blackpool equalised promoted early in the second half via Thomas Ince and could have gone on to win the game as well.
