MIRPUR (Sporting Alert) — Bangladesh has dismissed Chris Gayle in the opening session of the 1st Test against the West Indies at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.
The hard-hitting opening batsman fell for 24 runs – after missing the flight of a ball and was caught off the bowling of Sohag Gazi.
Gayle had earlier hit the youngster for two sixes and was looking to blast him away again. He, however, only succeeded in hitting Gazi’s ball to the fielder placed at long-off.
The score then was 32 for one.
Kieran Powell and Darren Bravo are now at the wicket for the West Indies and are hoping to settle down and build a solid partnership for the visitors.
Gazi is on debut for Bangladesh, while Veerasammy Permaul is making his West Indies Test debut.
The West Indies recently won the ICC World Twenty20 championships.
