Yaya Out: Manchester City v Real Madrid News, Live TV Stream

Manuel Pellegrini of Manchester City: Arsenal next

MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – Manchester City will be without midfielder Yaya Toure for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League semi-final clash against Real Madrid at Etihad Stadium because of an injury.

The English Premier League club revealed on Monday that Toure has been ruled out of the matchup with a thigh injury he sustained during the 4-0 victory over Stoke City on Saturday.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini also confirmed that midfielder Samir Nasri will also miss the game because of an injury, but his unavailability is not a surprise, given that the Frenchman was not even registered for this stage of the competition.

“Yaya is going to be out, I think,” Pellegrini told reporters at the pre-game press conference on Monday. “He hasn’t recovered from the muscle injury.

“Tomorrow (Tuesday) the two players not on the squad list are Nasri, who is not registered, and Yaya who is injured.

Brazilian duo Fernando and Fernandinho are expected to be the starting pair again in the central area of the Citizens’ midfield and Pellegrini has praised their recent excellent form.

“Whenever the Brazilian boys have played together they’ve played some big games – against PSG and against Roma when we knocked them out.”

Manchester City will be featuring in the UEFA Champions League last four for the first time in club history, which is an incredible achievement, but Pellegrini thinks his team has the potential to do so much more.

“It’s very important to enjoy the semi-final as it’s not an achievement we do every year,” the Chilean coach said.

“The players know that. It’s important not to be comfortable because we’re at this stage. Everyone wants to continue, to play the final. Tomorrow we’ll see a team that will play to win.

“It’s important to reach this final as it reflects the work we are doing for three years. The way you win a title is very important.

“We won’t just try to defend to reach the final. I have always tried to have a team who play good football, play well.

“The way we do it is just as important.

“We need a hot heart and a cold mind – against Barcelona we played with one player less both times. It’s very difficult with ten players. We need our emotions under control tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, despite a few doubts over the weekend, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane told reporters at his pre-match press conference that star forwards Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo are both fit and are in line to start against Manchester City.

“The idea is that we want Karim and Cristiano to play. I think they’ll be fine but we’ll test everything,” Zidane said.

“They’re fine today – they’re players who look after themselves physically, 100 percent. I think they’ll be fine to play.”

Former Tottenham winger Gareth Bale was with Zidane during the pre-match press conference and he will join Ronaldo and Benzema in a three-man attack that could cause problems to a very unstable Manchester City backline.

Real Madrid also took the time remain their opponents about their achievements heading into this contest.

And oh yea, don’t forget these stats as well.
